welcome to one of many homes of lalitha vasudevan. please feel free to look around and share a thought or two.
recently, a video was produced about some research i have been conducting about youth at the intersection of the systems of justice and education. you can view the video here (produced by edlab at teachers college).
a brief bio:
I am an Associate Professor of Technology and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University in the Communication, Computing, and Technology in Education Program. In my work, I engage participatory, ethnographic, and multimodal methodologies to study how youth craft stories, represent themselves, and enact ways of knowing through their engagement with literacies, technologies, and media. I am also co-editor of two volumes that explore the intersections of youth, media, and education: Media, Learning, and Sites of Possibility and Arts, Media, and Justice: Multimodal Explorations with Youth (both with Peter Lang).
these are the questions on my mind right now:
- what are our communities of inquiry?
- how are we connected? and how do we seek connection in our everyday lives?
- how do we cultivate a sense of belonging?
- how is our sense of belonging, of home(s), mediated? by what? whom? where(s)?
